About

Most people are told to build a brand. I help them find what's already there.

You don't need reinventing. You need translating.

For more than twenty-five years I've worked with capable people who are excellent at what they do and can't quite say why it matters outside the place they built it. From Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and Flight Centre to deep inside Tier 1 Australasian banks, insurers and government agencies, the same thing kept showing up.

The people I worked with weren't short of ability. They were short of language. What they were worth had been wrapped up in a title, a remit, a client list, a reporting line, and as long as that scaffolding was there, they never had to name it. Take the scaffolding away, and the value doesn't disappear. It just goes quiet.

Identity before strategy.

Most of the advice aimed at people like you starts in the wrong place. Find your niche. Build your personal brand. Get out there and be seen. It treats the problem as a visibility problem, and it isn't.

You can't market what you can't name. And most people can't name it, because they've only ever described themselves in someone else's terms. A job title. A service they fell into. Whatever the last client happened to need.

The work isn't becoming someone new. It's finally being able to say who you already are, in a way the market pays for.

That's the order I work in. We name the thing first. The judgement, the pattern, the through-line that's been showing up in your work for years, whoever you were doing it for. Then, and only then, we shape it into something commercial. Strategy without that foundation is just noise with a nice font.

This is the part most people skip. It's the part that changes everything.

How I got here.

I didn't set out to do identity work. I set out doing leadership development, executive coaching, presence, the visible stuff. But underneath every engagement, boardroom or breakout room, the real work was always the same: helping someone see what they carried, extract it, and turn it into something they could tell and build on.

I get called in when someone capable is at a crossroads and the way forward isn't obvious. When where you are looks right on paper but no longer fits. When staying would be tolerable and changing feels like starting from nothing, except it isn't nothing. It's years of proof you've stopped being able to see.

I know exactly where that person is standing. I've sat across from hundreds of them.

If that's where you are, you're in the right place.

Today I do this with high performers who've hit the ceiling and are ready to turn a lifetime of expertise into a consulting business that's clear, valuable and unmistakably theirs, whether they're preparing to step out or already out and ready to build it properly.

The next step isn't a commitment. It's a conversation.
